Puppy tip #7 (basic obedience)

 You just got a new puppy, but now what? I'm sure you have a million questions bouncing around in your head. What kind of training should you do? What kind of results can you expect? How long should you train daily? In this post, I will be going over those things for you!

Crate Training

  Feed them in the crate every day WITHOUT closing the door. This teaches them that the crate is a good place to be, as good things happen in it. He will eventually start going in on his own in hopes to get food.  Crate them while you are home. This teaches him that the crate does not always mean you are leaving him.  Leave the door open and reward him/her with a treat any time s/he decides on their own to enter the crate. This teaches them that the crate is a safe space, not a trap. S/he may come and go as he pleases “most of the time”. Leave an interactive toy in the crate when you leave. Service VS Therapy VS Emotional Support Animals

 I have been getting an influx of messages asking what is a service dog, and how do they differ from other types of assistance animals? In this article I will be going over the differences between the 3 along with the laws pertaining to them.  Service Dogs: A Service dog is any dog that has been trained to perform a task to aid their disabled handler. some of these tasks (but not all) are described below: Deep Pressure Therapy: this is when a dog is trained to use its body weight to target specific pressure points. This can help lower heart rate, bring someone with PTSD out of a flashback or panic attack, lessen the time someone has a seizure, reduce pain, and so much more!
